Conquering Tribalism with Compassion

As a teacher and therapist I have been lucky enough to witness the transformative effect that education, compassion, and self-realization have in helping people evolve beyond tribalistic instincts and cultivate compassion for all creatures. Yes, human nature is tribalistic, but history has shown us that we can rise above that with COMPASSION. That is one of the main teachings of most major religions, including Christianity, which the majority of people in this country claim to believe in, as well as secular humanism, which I adhere to. Although most countries are currently inhabited by ethnicities other than/in addition to the first ethnicities to live there, many other countries have done a better job than the U.S. of including indigenous peoples in their societies and making reparations for past crimes against humanity. The many crimes against humanity that this nation was built on have never been redressed or repaired. We can’t learn from the past unless we face it and facilitate healing and equality going forward. Please join me in calling for reparations for Black people and Native Americans and an end to systemic racism against all people of color. Please condemn white supremacy on all fronts. Please rise above tribalism and cultivate COMPASSION for all sentient beings (including going vegan!). We CAN create a more peaceful, harmonious world TOGETHER.
